WebRTC: What Does It Mean for Your Enterprise?

WebRTC has been a hot topic for more than three years now, and there are signs that this Web communications standard may finally be reaching critical mass of acceptance. But what does the continued evolution and growth of the WebRTC ecosystem mean for your enterprise? Kickoff - A WebRTC Health Check

Is WebRTC living up to early predictions that it would ultimately democratize UC by enabling voice, video and screen sharing within any application (or alternatively with no application except the browser), or have the codec battles and slow V1.0 ratification permanently limited WebRTC’s allure? During this brief opening session we’ll look at where WebRTC is today based on real adoption data, and more importantly, where it’s heading as we set the stage for the day’s discussions in the WebRTC track.

Keynote: The State of WebRTC

After several years of WebRTC development what is the state of the standard today? Is WebRTC really bringing any new capabilities to the UC space? What is ready for use today, and what is still coming down the road? Are the video codec wars being resolved? What about the security issues that have been raised? Have they been solved? How do people develop WebRTC apps for mobile devices? During this session we’ll answer all these questions and more as we discuss the current state of WebRTC technology.

Achieving Browser Ubiquity for WebRTC

One of the primary limitations to widespread WebRTC use has been the lack of WebRTC support across all browsers as well as differing approaches to the adoption of video codecs. Are those days finally past, or will browser limitations continue to constrain WebRTC adoption? What about WebRTC for Internet Explorer and Safari and ORTC for Microsoft’s new Edge browser? This session will focus on the status of the WebRTC/ORTC in the browsers and how to overcome WebRTC support limitations.

The Service Provider Role in WebRTC

To date, most enterprise organizations have looked at WebRTC as something they deploy themselves, using internally developed apps or by leveraging off-the-shelf products from communications software vendors. However, traditional telcos and emerging communications service providers are very active in providing WebRTC-enabled apps as well. During this session we’ll explore how service providers are delivering WebRTC solutions to the enterprise, and we’ll discuss how end-user organizations could leverage service provider offerings to achieve their own WebRTC goals.
