Gold Contact Center Nuggets from Enterprise Connect 2016
By Nancy Jamison | Digital Transformation
I just returned from a whirlwind Enterprise Connect in Orlando Florida. EC16 was a great event. It's difficult to believe it's been 16 years from the early days of when it was a bi-coastal event named VoiceCon. About that time it was primarily focused on unified communications, but since then has rightfully expanded to include the entire enterprise including collaboration and customer contact.

Flipping the Switch on Video in the Contact Center

By Tom Hoffman | 1 to 1 Media
Last week at Enterprise Connect, one of the most talked-about topics was video, especially as it can be used by customer care agents to communicate with customers. Depending on how companies go about deploying video communication technologies, some of the challenges that have impeded adoption is the high amount of bandwidth consumed by video as well as cost constraints. But thanks to the emergence of WebRTC, Skype for Business, and other developments, these barriers aren't nearly as formidable as they'd once been. - See more at: http://www.1to1media.com/weblog/2016/03/flipping_the_switch_on_video_i.html#sthash.OrStvlH8.dpuf

Polycom Integration with Skype for Business is Changing the Value of the Ecosystem
By Phil Edholm | Unified Communications Strategies
For the last three years at Enterprise Connect, Brent Kelly and I have done a session contrasting Cisco and Microsoft in UC. Over those three years, one key differentiator had been Cisco's integration capabilities, especially in video. As a single vendor for a complete UC portfolio, it was logical that Cisco would have a better integrated video offer than Microsoft.

Business has changed. The old way to run a company involved getting all your technology under one roof with the people and the hardware to drive it all. Now, cloud services and Internet business apps allow companies to build an infrastructure completely outside their own walls, saving time and money. Google is one of the leaders in this push to externalize the business technology environment, and its suite of applications is used by millions of people every day.To shed some light on this changing infrastructure trend, John Furrier, cohost of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, spoke with Adam Swidler, product marketing manager of Google Enterprise, during the Enterprise Connect 2016 conference in Orlando, Florida.

UCaaS/CCaaS Consolidation: BroadSoft Acquires Transera

By Andrew Prokop | No Jitter
Enterprise Connect is a just a month away, and I am in the process of putting the final touches on my Understanding and Leveraging SIP for your Enterprise presentation. With me, it's always a balancing act between down-in-the-weeds protocol geekiness and enterprise solutions. While I admit to favoring the former, I realize that technology without practical applications is purely academic. So, as much as I would love to spend the full hour and forty five minutes of my session talking about SIP headers and the mathematics behind audio codecs, I am certain that I would drive away 95% of my potential audience.
